July/August 2013 update
Here is my update on what is happening in Bramcote and Stapleford at the present time.
If you have any questions on any matters, please do not hesitate to contact me through any means you wish. I am always happy to hear from you.
Nottingham City Council is moving towards a city-wide 20mph speed limit for residential areas. In Wollaton, Sainsburys have recently secured planning permission for a new shop at 154-156 Bramcote Lane. Under the section 278 agreement they have offered to provide some funding towards a 20mph speed limit in the surrounding area. It was therefore decided that Bramcote Lane and the surrounding area be the next area considered as part of the city-wide 20mph initiative.
The attached plan [PDF], identifies the area included within the proposed 20mph speed limit. A full list of all roads which are proposed to be included within the 20mph Speed Limit is included on the enclosed drawing. A consultation is taking place with all residents directly affected.
Separately to this, Nottinghamshire County Council has proposals to introduce a 20mph speed limit outside all schools in the County which will include Moor Lane, Bramcote.
My question is, it it sensible to exclude roads such as Arundel Drive and Balmoral Drive from the 20mph zone since these are feeder roads to the schools on Moor Lane? During road-specific consultations performed early this year we became aware of considerable concerns about speeding traffic on these roads. Perhaps more controversially, if Bramcote Labe is to be restricted, should Thoresby Road be restricted as well? And what about additional roads in Bramcote Hills and on Bramcote Moor?
I would be grateful for views on these matters.
